Ballet, street dance and Cuban passion are all part of the Alhambra’s fourth dance season, launched this autumn.
The new season starts in September with Northern Ballet Theatre’s acclaimed production of Swan Lake.
The haunting, romantic adaptation brings audiences a moving story of betrayal and all-encompassing love.
Also coming to Bradford is the New York-based Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, celebrating its 50th anniversary. With technical brilliance and passionate energy, the company brings audiences worldwide to their feet. Bradford audiences will be treated to new productions and beloved Ailey classics.
Direct from a sell-out West End run, Cuban company Havana Rakatan presents a dance spectacular comprising mambo, bolero, rumba and salsa.
The dance season also includes the world premiere of street dance sensation Blaze, mixing nightclub vibes with West End production values, combined with the raw impact of a music concert. The show features some of the world’s hottest DJs, B-Boys, street dancers, and So You Think You Can Dance finalists, Lizzie and Tommy.
Over at St George’s Hall, street dance collective Breakin’ Convention returns for a one-night performance.
Adam Renton, general manager of Bradford Theatres says: “As well as watching these superb shows, you can also participate in a range of dance workshops plus pre and post-show discussions with the companies visiting us.”
Tickets for all shows are available on (01274) 432000.
