Children squealed with delight as they discovered a trail of mosaics showing how the Earth was made.
Youngsters at Little School pre-school nursery in Burley-in-Wharfedale followed the works of art, which include biblical images of the seven-day creation.
Day and night, Heaven, Earth, the sun, seeds, fish, animals and birds feature in the series of 12 mosaics, in which artist David James has used glass, ceramic and pebbles.
The garden, at Burley-in-Wharfedale Methodist Church, where the nursery is based, was designed by landscape and garden designer Helen Taylor.
It also contains a timber Noah’s Ark mural with a procession of animals created by Doncaster-based sculptor Lewis Morgan.
Helen said: “I hope that all visitors will enjoy and be delighted by the garden, that children of all ages will enjoy discovering the pictures of the creation and identifying and touching the animals.
“And when the children are not playing here, it will provide a peaceful place for rest and reflection.”
Pre-school manager Helen Franks said: “It is fantastic. The children love it, they go off to find the different pictures.
“They get so excited – they don’t know where to go first.”
