A pair of Bradford athletes have collected a donation from a Bingley firm to help them realise their Olympic dreams.
Golfer Ben Horner and power-lifter Nigel Halliday are two of four representatives of the district chosen to perform for Britain at the Special Olympics World Games in Athens, Greece, next summer.
To make it happen they need to raise £12,000 to cover travel and accommodation costs. But their job has been made easier by a £5,000 donation from independent publishers, Emerald Group.
The duo received a cheque from the company’s chairman, Dr Keith Howard, and executive chairman, Martin Fojt, at the firm’s base in Wagon Lane.
Hilary White, chairman of Bradford Disability Sport which supports the athletes, said: “We’re thrilled at such generosity from a locally-based firm.”
