Gardening is fast becoming a leading past-time of pupils at Carlton Bolling College.
An allotment has opened in the grounds of the secondary school, in Undercliffe Lane, Bradford, thanks to £20,000 in Government funding clinched by Inspired Neighbourhoods, the regeneration and neighbourhood management organisation.
Teenagers at the school celebrated the project today. After two months, their vegetable patch is flourishing. Young people have been put in charge of nurturing the garden and they are being rewarded with taking the fruit and vegetables they harvest home to promote healthy eating to their families.
