T&A business reporter Chris Holland has been named Yorkshire Business Journalist of the Year in the O2 regional media awards.

The judges described him as a ‘one man business news machine’ who provides readers with the crucial stories in a lively and engaging fashion.

They cited his coverage of the demise of Bradford & Bingley as a classic example of his abilities.

They said: “He is a journalist able to entertain and inform and someone who reflected the current mood of his business community.”

Chris returned to the T&A, where he originally covered industry between 1976 and 1984, in 2008 after a career in public relations with leading organisations including the Confederation of British Industry and financial services organisations, such as Bradford & Bingley Building Society.

He said: “Bradford has a vibrant business community which provides endless opportunities or interesting stories.

“It is very satisfying to receive an award for doing a job I enjoy and one based on the judgement of fellow journalists and media professionals.”

Glenn Manoff, O2’s director of communications and reputation, said the awards recognised outstanding media coverage of issues affecting communities.

He said: “We are delighted to celebrate the huge service local and regional journalists provide to communities across Yorkshire.”
