Lonestar – Party Heard Around The World (Time Life) ****
I’m not a country and western fan. So when I was given this album to review, I had misgivings from the start. My misgivings were soon quashed, however. There were no steel guitars or drawling deep Southern vocals, but some accomplished and enjoyable country rock. Lonestar are a giant in the country and western arena, and it is easy to see how they could produce such an accomplished and energetic sound. It made my miserable drive along the M62 feel as if I was cruising a sun-drenched US highway. I’m still not a country and western fan, but Lonestar are the exception.
