Crowds flocked to Silsden at he weekend for the town’s annual gala.
A procession of colourful floats and performers, including the Eclipse Jazz Band, Paradise Steel Band and Silsden All Stars Majorettes, wound its way through the town at the the event.
Fairground rides, children’s races, welly throwing, egg throwing and a tug-of-war were also on offer. The event also saw the crowning of gala queen 11-year-old Lauren Smith.
Resident Peter Ford said: “It was a good day, the sun shone eventually and everybody had a good time. It was very well organised.”
Meanwhile, members of the Baildon in Bloom Committee were busy promoting the village’s annual scarecrow festival, due to take place on Saturday, September 11.
The event was started in 2008 to encourage people in the village to become involved in Baildon in Bloom and last year’s festival included about 200 scarecrows.
Committee member Ron Bairstow said Yorkshire in Bloom judges were impressed when they visited the village this month and in April.
He added: “The town centre looked wonderful. Having a success with the wacky scarecrow weekend meant all the public joined in, which is what the judges were looking for.”
Entry forms for this year’s festival are available in shops in Baildon, including the Post Office. The deadline for entries is Friday, August 20.
