Ambitious primary school children got a possible glimpse of their futures at a careers day.
Year Six children at Hothfield Junior School, in Silsden, met members of the Education Business Partnership (EBP) at school support services firm Education Bradford for advice.
Professionals talked about careers in finance, business administration, retail, health, engineering, television, film-making, hospitality, photography and the police.
Children also got a chance to try real-life work skills such as emergency first-aid and mortgage calculations.
Headteacher Ruth Leech said: “We’re not asking children to decide what career they would like to take at this stage in their development, but it’s never too early for them to hear first-hand about the opportunities that may be available and the types of skills and attributes employers are always looking for.”
Catherine Halliwell, creativity and enterprise adviser at the EBP, said: “This is the first time we have facilitated a careers day for the primary sector, but the children were really enthusiastic and eager to talk to the employers.”
