A sporting legend is demonstrating his skills to an unlikely audience at a school summer camp in Bradford.
Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan will be making an appearance at The Girls’ Grammar School, Bradford, on Wednesday.
He will be teaching girls aged five to ten the the rules of the game and be demonstrating different cricket activities before letting the children loose in a real game.
There will also be a question and answer session.
Gillian Etienne, communications manager at The Girls’ Grammar School, said: “Obviously, we are thrilled Michael Vaughan is coming. It is a big name for the school.
“It is about getting girls interested in a variety of sports not just traditional girl’s sports such as netball. It is getting them involved in a mixture of traditional male-orientated sports as well.”
The Lancashire-born batsman played County Cricket for Yorkshire between 1993 and 2009 before he retired.
He was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Years’ Honours in 2005 after leading the England cricket team to a first victory in The Ashes for 18 years.
