Youngsters at Bradford’s Margaret McMillan Primary School celebrated what would have been the 150th birthday of the school meals pioneer from whom their school took its name.
Margaret McMillan was a member of the Bradford School Board who along with Bradford MP Fred Jowett lobbied Parliament to introduce free school meals.
To mark the date, catering staff at the Manningham school dressed in period costume and provided a Victorian menu.
Councillor David Green said: “We take great pride in the role early pioneers such as Margaret McMillan played in the establishment of school meals in England.”
