The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Peter Hill will be cutting the ribbon to open the new Jurys Inn hotel in Bradford city centre tomorrow.
The £20 million Jurys Inn Bradford, on Thornton Road, is one of the major businesses that are taking space in the £50 million Southgate development. The hotel has 198 bedrooms, three meeting rooms and a refreshment lounge, a separate bar and restaurant and a gym.
Provident Financial is also due to relocate its headquarters in the development.
Bradford Council agreed a £6m commercial loan to McAleer and Rushe to complete the development which has been repaid with interest.
Councillor David Green, the Council’s executive member for regeneration and economy, said: “The opening of Jurys Inn is great news for the city and shows that major businesses have confidence to invest in the city centre.
“This hotel should help to bring visitors to Bradford as the regeneration of the city centre moves forward. This development will enhance this area of the city and the relocation of Provident Financial will bring hundreds more office workers into the city centre, providing a much-needed boost for local businesses.”
Roger Clark-Coates, general manager of Jurys Inn Bradford, said: “We are all committed to offering the award- winning warm welcome which Jurys Inn is known for and hope the hotel will become a central part of the community.”
