A prolific drug dealer has been locked up for seven years after police found heroin and crack cocaine during a raid at his Keighley home.

Bradford Crown Court was told today the conviction was Mohammed Khan’s third for class A drug-trafficking offences.

The court was told police executed a search warrant at his house in Dalton Terrace, on September 22 when they found 19 wraps of heroin, with a street value of £171, 27 wraps of crack cocaine, valued at £328.85, and drug-related paraphernalia including electronic scales and packaging materials.

Khan, 37, pleaded guilty on the morning his trial was due to begin to possession of the Drugs with intent to supply. He made his plea saying the drugs had been brought to his house for packing and he would package them before returning them for supply. The basis of plea was accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service.

He said he was given drugs for his own personal use in return for playing his part in the supply chain.

Prosecutor Elyas Patel told the court Khan’s offending history, which dates back to 1992, had included sentences of three-and-a-half years and five-and-a-half years for drug-related crimes.

Sentencing Khan to seven years in prison for possession of each drug, to run concurrently, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said: “I can do no other than to impose the statutory minimum term.

“You were caught in possession of an admittedly small quantity of crack cocaine and heroin, you were part of a supply ring.”

Mitigating for Khan, his barrister Daniel Thomas told the court he had “taken great efforts to address his drug taking”.

After the sentencing hearing Police Constable Alex Davies, of the Bradford District Drugs Team, said: “The sentence received by Khan reflects his continuous drugs trafficking and will hopefully serve as a deterrent to others.”
