The Friends of Ilkley Moor are planning a Celebration Day next month to mark almost two years of their work.
The event, on the Moor, opposite Darwin Gardens on Wells Road on Saturday, August 1, is to celebrate the work of the Friends and to say thank you to everyone who has supported and worked with them.
Founded in 2008, the Friends are well into their second year, having paid for the restoration of a major footpath and extensive work on other minor paths.
Funds have been allocated for the control of bracken, and educational programmes have been established to encourage responsible use of the Moor.
The Friends is run by a group of volunteers with the support of a part-time project officer, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Friends work in close partnership with Bradford Council, Natural England, Pennine Prospects and Manor House Museum and are building up links with school groups in the area, youth organisations and naturalist groups to ensure the Moor, a special site of scientific interest, is preserved for future generations.
Meanwhile, 12 enthusiasts attended the FOIM moorland flowers and plants walk, led by Nicky Vernon from the Wharfedale Naturalist Society on Saturday.
