A church is holding a weekend of celebrations to commemorate its patron saint, tying in with a town gala.
St James’ at Silsden will start its celebrations with a sung evensong on Friday at 7.30pm. On Saturday, there will be a coffee morning in the church hall from 9.30am to noon and a singing workshop from 10am to noon.
On Sunday, St James’ Day, there will be services at 8.30am and 10.30am with a float depicting Joseph and his brothers in the gala procession which starts at 1pm.
The church will also have a “quiet” tent on the gala field in Silsden Park. The celebrations will end with a full peal of bells at 2pm.
Meanwhile, this year’s gala procession has been billed as the biggest yet.
There will also be plenty to do on the gala field, such as a birds of prey demonstration, children’s entertainment, races and rides.
