Frizinghall Primary School is performing significantly better than three years ago, says education watchdog Ofsted.
There have been big changes at the school in Salisbury Road since it was last inspected in 2007. After a visit last month inspectors report it is “good”, an improvement from “satisfactory” under previous criteria.
It is credited with several “outstanding” features including care and support for pupils.
The report says the school is coping well with the challenge of a significant number of pupils joining and leaving at irregular stages of their education.
Head teacher Pauline Chilvers said: “We are delighted with this report which reflects the hard work of staff, pupils, governors and parents.”
Inspector John Coleman said: “Frizinghall is a good school which is well led and managed.
“A range of support and interventions ensures that the pupils whose circumstances make them the most vulnerable, many of whom join the school in the middle classes, settle quickly and make rapid gains.”
