A train conductor was punched six times in the head and face after he asked a passenger to put out a cigarette.
British Transport Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the attack at Bradford Forster Square station on Thursday, July 8.
Investigating officer Police Constable Marcus Robinson said the incident took place on board the 7.36pm Northern Rail Bradford to Skipton service.
He said: “The conductor approached the man and asked him to extinguish his cigarette at which point the man became abusive and threatening. Unprovoked, the man attacked the train conductor punching him six times to the head and face, leaving him with bruising and swelling.”
Police said the suspect fled but later returned and was arrested.

- A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until September 8 pending further inquiries.
