A temporary green space in Bradford city centre has been opened to the public ahead of its official opening next week.

The Bradford Urban Garden has sprung up on the Broadway site while Westfield’s £320 million shopping centre development is put on hold.

Some of the hoardings have been taken down around the site to allow access to the area and grass seeds have been sown, as well as paths created and benches installed.

It will be official opened on Friday, July 23, with the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Peter Hill, officiating.

The £300,000 project is a joint agreement between Westfield, Bradford Council and Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency.
