Ilkley residents gave almost £8,000 to Christian Aid in a week of house-to-house collections.
Members of the Ilkley Christian Aid Group and helpers collected around £7,900 during Christian Aid Week in May.
Ilkley Christian Aid Group co-ordinator Jenny Lawson said: “With the effects of the recession still being felt and money being tight, we are really pleased with this result.
“We’d like to thank not only those who gave so generously but also those who helped collect and count the money”.
The group is planning its next fundraising event, an afternoon tea at the Christchurch Coffee Centre, The Grove, on Saturday, September 25.
Money raised will also go to support Christian Aid’s work to relieve poverty and suffering in this country and overseas.
