Residents can leave their mark on a revamped community hall by getting stuck in and giving it a final lick of paint.

A project putting “a shine” on the streets around St Stephen’s Church, in West Bowling, Bradford, is looking for volunteers to join in a painting day on Saturday, July 24.

As part of The Shine project’s well-being work, it has redeveloped the community hall at the coroner of St Stephen’s Road and Newton Street with the help of grants, but now needs to finish off with a lick of paint.

The hall has already had a new roof, new insulation and dry lining, a new catering kitchen and toilets, a ramp for disabled access and a new soft play area for children.

The building is already being well used for community cinema evenings, exercise classes, refugee support groups, children’s activities, family support groups, social events, homeless support networks, drop-in events, soup evenings in winter and birthday parties.

A project spokesman said: “All people need to do is bring themselves along. We’ll supply the equipment.”

The project is managed by a committed group of St Stephen’s Church members supported by the congregation.
