The triumph of good over evil – and of fizzy drinks over weapons – has been celebrated in a Burley-in-Wharfedale school’s end-of-term play.
All of the junior children at Burley & Woodhead C of E Primary were involved in staging three performances of The Lemonade Kid in front of family and friends.
The story, set in the Wild West, revolved around a hero who renounced guns and instead, armed only with his favourite beverage, managed to defeat the bad guy.
Head teacher Julie Speight said it was a success.
She said: “It was a great show involving all of Key Stage Two, and all of our Year Six children took up all the lead roles and did very well with it.
"The story is about good triumphing over evil, and based in a cowboy universe where the Lemonade Kid doesn’t believe in using guns and defeats the bad guy by squirting him with lemonade, which attracts wasps that chase him away.
“The children loved it, as did the audiences,” she added.
