I feel that I must reply to A Mason (letters, February 15) who claims that under Labour, the council tax has risen sharply but local services have been cancelled.
Although a few services in the last few years have been cut, this was due to Croydon's Labour council having to balance the council finances due to the last Conservative administration nearly leaving the council financially bankrupt.
However, the huge main part of local services have been delivered by Labour.
May I mention to Mr Mason that the Conservatives are planning £16 billion of cuts to local services in their manifesto, at the coming general election and if Mr Mason wants a return of the Conservatives to Croydon Council he will really see cuts being made to local services.
At the general election and next local elections, my vote will go to Labour.
