A trio of larger-than-life, brightly-coloured, pop art sheep have arrived in Skipton.
The sheep, painted by Bradford-born actress and artist Jayne Bickerton-Tunnicliffe, include a Bet Lynch, Coronation Sheep, a John Lennon, All You Need is Love sheep, and a skeletal Baa-Bones sheep.
The are part of the town council’s Flock to Skipton event, which next month will see a trail of 25 sheep around the town.
Jayne, who transported the three sheep in a Transit van from her home near Manchester, said she was relieved they had all arrived in one piece.
The former Coronation Street actress, who played Yana Lumb, said: “The idea of the Coronation Sheep was mutton dressed as lamb. It’s also the 50th anniversary of the show.
“I’m not sure what Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch) would think about being made to look like a sheep though.
“I hope they will make people smile when they see them, and I hope they will attract attention.”
The Coronation Sheep has been sponsored by the Skipton Building Society after it was voted top design by members of staff, and will be placed in the High Street branch.
Flock to Skipton will be launched on Saturday, August 14, at Art in the Pen at Skipton Auction Mart. The sheep will be seen out in the town the following week.
