World and European triathlon champion Alistair Brownlee was the guest speaker at the prize-giving ceremony at Moorfield School for Girls in Ben Rhydding.
The 22-year-old student, who lives in Horsforth, was at the school in between preparations for defending his world title later this year.
Headmistress Jessica Crossley, said: “His speech was inspirational to the girls and their parents – a young man pursuing and succeeding in his sporting dream.
“Alistair gave his audience a treasured memory and, as 2012 fast approaches, all at Moorfield will be keenly rooting for him to bring the Olympic gold home.”
