A glittering array of sportsmen and television stars are flocking to the city for an evening with ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson.
Bradford charities will benefit from proceeds raised by a raffle at the all-ticket event which is being held at the Abundant Life Centre in memory of one of the former world heavyweight boxing champion’s fans, Qasim Rehman, 22, of Cullingworth, who died suddenly two years ago.
He had been due to drive the boxing star around Manchester, just after his body was found in a field off Stocks Lane, Clayton Heights.
His father, Bradford businessman Fazal Rehman, has financed the visit, part of a tour of the UK by the boxer.
Among the actors and actresses going to the event in Bradford are Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher, Danny Miller, Luke Tittensor and Adam Thomas.
Bradford’s former Hollyoaks and Dancing On Ice star Chris Fountain, singer Simon Webb of boy band Blue, Shameless actor Carl Gallagher and EastEnders actor Mo George will also be there.
Boxing trainer Brendan Ingle, best-known for mentoring a young Prince Naseem Hamed, will be there, along with boxers Esham Pickering, Junior Witter, Kell Brook, Ryan Rhodes, Jamie Moore, Tyson Fury, Johnny Nelson and Danny McIntosh.
Mike Tyson starts his visit to Bradford on Saturday, July 17, by opening a gym owned by Bradford boxer Nadeem Siddique, before attending the event at the Abundant Life Centre. For tickets, contact Bradford City Central Office on 0845 6443737 or 07901252868.
