Hundreds of people joined a day-long festival celebrating the life of a 24-year-old rugby player who died after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
Former Silsden Park Rangers player Chris Brown, of Cornwall Avenue, died 11 days after suffering a head injury while playing rugby in September last year.
His mum Linda Brown said the family and Chris’s friends had been raising money for Leeds General Infirmary, where doctors tried to save him.
The fun day, held at Silsden Sports Club on Saturday was the culmination of their fundraising efforts.
During the day, 21 teams dressed in wacky costumes including emus and ballet dancers took to the field for a five-a-side tournament in Chris’s memory.
There was a tug-o-war, children’s attractions, a barbecue and raffles throughout the day and the Puretones, a local band, performed at a fancy dress party on Saturday night.
Mrs Brown said: “Chris was always a good football supporter and he also dearly loved a good party. He would have had a great time.”
