The new Marks & Spencer distribution centre in Bradford is due to be officially opened next week.

The warehouse, constructed by Prologis, occupies a large part of a site bounded by the M606 and Rooley Lane.

A spokesman for M&S said: “At 1.1 million square feet, Bradford is the largest warehouse in the M&S network and a key part of the strategy to prepare M&S’s supply chain for the future needs of the business.”

An opening ceremony is due to be held at the site on Tuesday, July 20.

The initial work is expected to see 200 to 300 jobs on site and this is expected to reach in excess of 1,200.

The 90-acre Prologis Park Bradford is on the former site of West Bowling Golf Club.

Club members decided to sell the site to the developer about four years ago.
