A man struck down by a brain tumour as he worked towards a career with the police, has received an award for his charity work.
Luke Gaunt, who is unable to work after being left partially-sighted by the tumour has been volunteering at the Mind shop in Brighouse.
The 25-year-old, who was named Mind Volunteer of the Year last week, has now been named runner-up in the Young Volunteer of the Year awards run by the National Association of Charity Shops.
Mr Gaunt, of Brighouse, helps sort through 160 bags of donations a week at the charity shop, often using a magnifying glass to aid his eyesight.
He also raises funds for other charities and is learning Braille so he can continue his studies.
He said: “Although I can’t work at the moment I don’t want to just sit around, I like to feel like I’m contributing.”
