Bands from across West Yorkshire will battle it out to become the opening acts in front of 15,000 revellers at this year’s Bingley Music Live.
More than 100 bands entered Bradford Theatres’ BD1 LiVE battle-of-the-bands competition with 32 making the heats.
Now the remaining eight bands will compete to be crowned at the final at St George’s Hall, Bradford on Saturday, July 24.
Four will be chosen to be the opening acts at Bingley Music Live festival in September.
The overall winner will also be able to record their own music in Factory Street Recording Studio in Bradford.
The finalists are Jasmine Kennedy, a 17-year-old singer songwriter, of Batley, Bradford-based Indie band Sharp Darts, The Mexanines, a three-piece band from Bradford and Halifax, Northern Glory, also from Halifax, Leeds-based Secret Sirens, progressive Indie rock band The Beat Marshalls, Black Diamond Bay and The Dawnriders The grand final will be hosted by The Pulse’s Breakfast host Alex Duffy and Becky Holmes.
Andrew Wood, event manager, Bingley Music Live said: “Bingley Music Live is a fabulous platform to showcase local talent.
‘‘To be included on the same billing as the likes of James and The Enemy in front of thousands of people is a massive incentive for all the bands in the final to put in their best performance.
“Already there has been a massive increase in ticket sales for Bingley Music Live and that’s without the full line up being revealed.
‘‘It appears the people that came last year had such a good time that they’ve gone out and bought their tickets not wanting to miss out.”
