Two iconic cars that have graced the big screen will take starring roles next weekend when motoring enthusiasts descend on Bradford for this year’s classic car show.

Cars driven by Austin Powers and a James Bond villain will be parking up in Centenary Square.

Powers’ famous union flag-covered Jaguar and the XKR which took part in Die Another Day’s ice chase will be among more than 100 classic and high performance vehicles being displayed in the city centre over Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18.

Other highlights include an exhibition of rare images of pre-war German car production taken by photographer Zoltan Glass. The pictures, which will be on display at the Pop Up arts space in Centenary Square, have recently been digitised by Bradford’s National Media Museum on behalf of Daimler.

The centenaries of the Ilkley and District Motor Club and the Bradford-built Jowett car company will also be celebrated at the event. Cars from every decade of the past 100 years will be brought along by the motor club and a Jowett Jason will be displayed.

A continental market will also take over the city centre from July 15 to July 18 to run alongside the event and a jazz band will keep crowds entertained.

Councillor the Reverend Paul Flowers said: “The Bradford Classic always attracts huge numbers of car fans and the public because of the exciting mix of vehicles on display and this year will be no different.

“The Zoltan Glass exhibition will add another fascinating aspect to the event and will be of real interest to car, history and photography enthusiasts alike.”

Classic cars will be on show on Saturday, July 17, and the high-performance and competition vehicles will take centre stage the following day. The event will be open from 10am until 4pm each day and entrance is free.
