A Yorkshire accountancy firm has set up a specialised will-writing service for Muslims, to address elements of Islam which are not covered in British law.
Armstrong Watson, based in Skipton, is offering customers specialist Islamic wills and estate planning service.
When a spouse dies, financial issues can arise. Under Shari'a law, an Islamic will is the only means by which Muslims can guarantee their spouses and dependants can get an equitable share.
UK courts do not have to take these principles into consideration, and are likely to distribute the estate in a way not compliant with Shari'a law.
Tahir Iqbal, of Armstrong Watson, said: "Caring for your family and careful planning for the future is not only prudent, but is an essential part of your duty as a Muslim.
"I felt it was important that we were able to offer this to clients. We are privileged to be able to offer a specialist wills and estate planning service alongside our traditional will writing service.
"A will is an invaluable tool important for both Muslims and non-Muslims alike."
