Stuart Fielden admits the Bulls have to step up this week if they are going to rule the world again.

The Great Britain prop featured in Robbie Paul's testimonial match on Friday night - the last game action before the real business of Wests Tigers in the World Club Challenge this Friday.

The Bulls won 28-12 against Hull KR but the first-team regulars only played the second half as the Kiwi star was allowed some fun early on.

When the likes of Fielden, Iestyn Harris, Shontayne Hape and co took to the field they had little opportunity to get firing and the fixture was typically scruffy as the rain poured down.

"It's hard when there's loads of people coming on and off like that," Fielden conceded.

"It was always going to be scrappy and difficult to get things spot on.

"I don't think anyone expected us to do that on Friday night, especially with the conditions as they were as well."

Aussie premiers Wests flew in to England today ready for the Galpharm Stadium showdown, having enjoyed a 64-4 cakewalk against country opposition Gunnedah in their only warm-up.

As the big kick-off draws closer, Fielden realises he and his Bulls team-mates have to quickly increase the ante.

"You can't get away from the fact that Hull KR was our last dress rehersal before the final and we have got to improve on that," he said.

"On the other hand Friday was obviously about celebrating Robbie's Bulls career.

"He's been a great servant for the Bulls, a truly great player and it was brilliant to have the likes of Jimmy Lowes and Steve McNamara out there with him the other night.

"But there's things to work on for us now. It was a bit stop-start and we know there's a lot of work to be done this week in time for the World Club."

Scrum half Paul played 40 minutes of his benefit match and treated Bulls fans to flashes of his old skills.

Fielden said: "He was doing well and he's going to do that.

"He was good against us at Huddersfield the other week and I think he'll be really good there this season alongside Chris Thorman. He adds more flair.

"Robbie is what he is - a true professional. And he still loves this club no matter thta he has signed for Huddersfield."

Paul Johnson departed early after splitting his cheekbone but the Great Britain ace will be fit for Wests.
