City have been warned to watch their backs.

Saturday's frustrating goalless draw with Tranmere left the tenth-placed Bantams still nine points off the play-offs.

And skipper David Wetherall admits they cannot afford to switch off about the potential danger behind them.

"It's something we've got to guard against," he said. "At the moment we're closer to the relegation zone than the play-offs and it's important we don't let ourselves get dragged in.

"Bristol City and Blackpool, two of the teams who were in the bottom four, both won on Saturday and now they're four points behind us.

"There are always teams down there who will go on a run.

"Blackpool have had a good week with a couple of wins and that shows what can happen - a gap of six or seven points can soon be closed.

"On the flipside of that, we know that two or three results on the bounce can make things look very different the other way."

City lost their way at Valley Parade as Tranmere ground out their fourth 0-0 draw in a row. Steve Claridge twice went close and Lewis Emanuel missed a gilt-edged chance in a one-sided first half but the home side hardly threatened after the break.

Wetherall added: "If you're going to get in the play-offs you need to be winning home games and that's not a habit we've been in for a long time.

"We just needed that first goal to get us on the way in the first half. But we never really played at all in the second.

"We couldn't stamp our authority on it, there was no tempo or

pressure on their goal.

"It had 0-0 written all over it for just about the whole of the second half. I couldn't see a goal coming from anywhere.

"The entertainment value for the fans wasn't particularly great and that's an understatement."

Colin Todd felt City lacked composure when they got the ball into scoring positions.

He said: "I could count on one hand the number of times we sustained the ball in the final third of the pitch.

"Defensively we're as good as anyone in the league. But we're missing that vital ingredient when we get into good areas.

"We didn't create at all in the second half which was very disappointing."
