The team behind the innovative redevelopment of the Albion Mills complex at Greengates have secured a contract to carry out a multi-million pound redevelopment of an old mill near Oldham.

Jade Holdings, owners of Albion Mills, will be carrying out the work.

The company recently transformed the historic mill building into a retail and office complex in the heart of Bradford.

The new £30 million mixed use scheme in Lancashire, will be based at Greenfields, along the Huddersfield Canal.

It will comprise apartments, offices, retail and restaurant use and will be carried out along similar lines to that of the redevelopment of the Albion Mills development.

The site has been given full planning permission and work should start soon.

Paul Hanson, chief executive, said that the development represented the start of Jade Holdings carrying out similar redevelopments of old mill buildings into modern constructions.

"The development will employ around 250 people, almost as many as were employed at the mill during its heyday," Mr Hanson said.

"It is all about fusing the old with the new in our developments, retaining old structures but with modern facilities."

Traditional materials will be used to remain in keeping with the building's original character.
