Haworth artist Ellie Robertson has received £4,581 from the Arts Council to fund a year-long special project.
She will prepare an exhibition based on sketch books and journals chronicling 12 months in the life of Skipton Woods.
The resulting artwork, inspired by the Woodland Trust-owned public area, will go on show from January next year.
The exhibition will feature lino cuts, oils, the research material and natural sounds of the woodland taped throughout the year.
Ellie said her work would emphasise the Genius Loci --- the spirit of place -- and encourage people to find their own spirit of place.
She said: "My final work will be impressionistic and represent an education of the area and my personal perceptions.
"I hope through the exhibition to encourage the public to explore the natural spaces around them.
"They can discover their own perceptions of the landscapes we inhabit, and how our interaction with them benefits us in terms of well-being."
Ellie first studied art at Keighley College then received an honours degree in fine art and a postgraduate certificate in printmaking at the college. She specialises in free-drawn lino cuts, including figure images and abstracts, and also creates silkscreens and etchings.
She has exhibited at Leeds Art Gallery, Dean Clough in Halifax and Bradford's Cartwright Hall, as well as Haworth Tourist Information Centre.
