Keighley Rotary Club has won recognition for its fundraising efforts to help rebuild a school in Sri Lanka.
The club raised £2,335 towards the £200,000 needed to rebuild the Batticaloa school, which was devastated in the tsunami.
Now members have been presented with a bronze award certificate, from Rotary District 1040, for their contribution.
Alan Morten, the Keighley club's international chairman, said the cash was raised through events and donations.
He added: "The challenge for the Yorkshire area was to raise the overall total before Boxing Day 2005.
"The target seemed a huge amount to raise within the time constraints, but we've actually managed to surpass it. The extra will now go towards providing books and new equipment like computers for the 400 pupils."
It is hoped the new building will be complete by September.
