Kyla Brox -- Spectrum Blues Club
I don't know my Chicago blues from my Delta blues from my Oxford Blues.
But I know a good voice when I hear one.
And Kyla Brox, headlining the latest sell-out Spectrum gig in Keighley last Friday, clearly has one of the best.
The Stockport singer's voice was powerful enough to raise the roof and reach down inside you.
She did both repeatedly during two electrifying sets that drew increasingly rapturous applause.
Kyla began her show with the first of several since-my-baby-done-left-me slow blues numbers.
Most of the show was more up-tempo with a captivating mix of blues styles drawing on jazz, funk and soul.
And while Kyla was superb, her performance was bound tightly to her excellent four-piece band.
