LUKE FLEETWOOD was crowned Bradford Schools cross-country champion after winning the Year-7 boys title last weekend.

Luke (above), a pupil at Oakbank school led from start to finish with an impressive run that led the school to the team title. He was backed up by Owen Whelan (4th), Josh Fleetwood (5th), Jack Woodhead (9th) and Joe Healey (11th).

In the Junior Boys race (Years 8 and 9) Kyle Rushworth ran extremely well and after leading for most of the race was just pipped into second place. Michael Clegg finished sixth and Lloyd Evans was seventh. Josh Wilkinson was 17th and Jack Lonsdale 21st.

In the Year-7 girls race Rebecca Jones was 29th while in the Junior Girls race Jodie Healey led the Oakbank challenge in 14th place, Ruby Whelan was 15th, Victoria Harris (24th) and Michaela Johns (25th). The team finished third.

In the Inter-Boys (Year 10-11) Robert Shaw was third, Matthew Stewart 5th, Ben Johnson was 16th and Adam Dobson 17th.

In the Inter-Girls race Eleanor Moore ran well to finish third and take the bronze medal, Sophie Price was seventh, Joanne Pybus 9th.

Wayne Pybus was eighth in the senior boys.

A total of nine runners were also selected to run for Bradford Schools in the West Yorkshire Championship, they are: Luke Fleetwood, Kyle rushworth, Michael Clegg, Lloyd Evans, Robert Shaw, Matthew Stewart, Eleanor Moore, Sophie Price and Joanne Pybus.
