SETTLE Cricket Club are one of 100 clubs in the country which have been selected to kick-start a scheme to rejuvenate competitive cricket in state schools.
Under the 'Chance to shine' project, the club will receive £13,500 over the next three years to deliver coaching programmes in local primary and middle schools.
Set up by the independent charity, The Cricket Foundation, the scheme aims to reach a third of schools in England and Wales over the next ten years.
Settle are one of just five clubs in Yorkshire to be initially selected.
The funding will see the North Craven club deliver nine-week coaching courses this summer to year five pupils at Settle, Giggleswick, Rathmell and Hellifield primary schools and year six and seven pupils at Settle and Ingleton middle schools.
And thanks to additional funding from the Yorkshire Cricket Board, Settle will be providing the same courses for other primary schools in North Craven.
These are in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Austwick, Kirby Malham, Long Preston, Langcliffe and Clapham.
