Baildon gave an improved display in going down 15-7 at Skipton in Yorkshire Division Three.
Matt Oddy replaced full back Mark Coultas (leg strain) on the wing for the visitors after half an hour and was unlucky to concede a penalty try four minutes later, winger Richard Dillon kneeing the ball
forward and Oddy being adjudged to have tackled him without the ball.
Former Bradford Salem player Darren Howson converted and Oddy was sin-binned.
With Alister Beaumont having missed a penalty into the wind from just inside his own half, Baildon turned round 7-0 behind.
Skipton, still with a man
advantage, piled on the pressure in the second half and Alex Naylor scored a try after a strong run.
Then it was Baildon's turn to score a penalty try, the referee
ruling that second row Haydn Perrow would have scored were it not for a wheeled scrum.
Beaumont converted and Baildon scented an upset victory, only to be thwarted by an 82nd-minute penalty by Adam Oldfield.
