Gargrave 1 Oxenhope 2 - With five members of the previous week's cup-tie winning side against local rivals Bronte Wanderers unavailable, Oxenhope manager Paul Brearey had the advantage of being able to call upon players from Oxenhope's strong reserve team for the crucial match at Gargrave.
The Worth Valley side made the most of their pace against a strong and physical Gargrave side, with Joel Gallagher causing the home defence all sorts of problems.
All the possession though could not be turned into goals.
In the second half Oxenhope continued to dominate the game with Gargrave having to rely on breakaway attacks.
Eventually the Gargrave defence was breached with good work by Gallagher allowing Chris Newman to score from close range.
With 10 minutes left Oxenhope failed to clear their lines after a race Gargrave attack and the ball was stabbed home for an equaliser. Oxenhope showed their fighting spirit and for the second week running scored the winner late in the game. Fittingly it fell to man of the match Gallagher who lashed the ball home for a deserved three points.
A weakened reserve side achieved a creditable 1-1 draw against Barrowford, with the equaliser coming from Adam Clewes, maintaining their unbeaten run of six matches.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Oxenhope entertain Sandy Lane in a mouthwatering quarter-final of the Keighley Cup, and the reserves travel to Cowling in the Supplementary Cup. Both games kick off at 1.30.
