Old Brods Under-17s 8 Keighley Under-17s 10 - Keighley faced a true test of their efforts to win the Division 1 title.
A large following travelled to witness the visitors snatch a last minute victory and the result makes them clear favourites to take the league title.
Captain Tate elected to play against the slope and elements in the first half and spent the opening 20 minutes repelling a determined home pack. Keighley were pinned into their 22 for long periods and an unconverted try by the left winger was scant reward for the Old Brods pressure. A further penalty gave the home side an 8-0 lead.
Then came the moment that turned the game. A poor defensive kick straight into the hands of the right winger whose excellent run brushed aside some weak Keighley tackling to the line. As he ran behind the post celebrating his score he didn't see Keighley's left winger Tshomba who's cover tackle forced a knock- on and Keighley cleared their lines.
With the slope and the elements at their backs after the break Keighley camped in the Old Brods 22. The pressure was constant but all Keighley could muster was a penalty from full back Geraghty.
With time running out a mistake by the Old Brods centre gave Keighley one final chance to launch an attack. After several phases a looped pass from outside half Brown allowed number 8 Stansfield a clear run to the line. Up stepped Geraghty with the last kick of the game that sailed between the post to the delight of the large Keighley following.
With three games left in the season Keighley need to confirm the title by winning two.
The next game is against Hull Ionians at Rose Cottage, Utley, on Sunday at 11am.
