CRAVEN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
Gargrave's hopes of mounting a serious title challenge were dealt a severe blow as rivals Oxenhope claimed the points with a late winner. The home defence coped well with Oxenhope's pace in the first half and almost went ahead themselves but Paul Cook's close range effort flew over the bar. Chris Newman put the visitors in front after the break but Gargrave equalised when a free-kick from Brian Blackwell was converted by Jonathan Chapman with a left-foot shot. With a draw looking likely, Joel Gallagher kept his nerve with a good finish under pressure to win it for Oxenhope.
Grassington 1 Carleton 1
Grassington's failure to capitalise on their chances cost them victory in this basement clash. They went in front with an excellent strike from Jeremy Gee following a cross from John Barbour. Some good goalkeeping from Carleton's James Preston prevented the hosts from increasing their lead. Carleton came into the game in the second half and gained a point when Stephen Morphet equalised.
Cononley 6 Cross Hills 0
This game was all but over inside 10 minutes as Cononley raced into a 3-0 lead with goals from Jonny Hepworth, Chris Lumsden and Nicholas Shaw.
Lumsden and Hepworth added further goals in the first half before Jason Kendall added the icing on the cake in the second half with a cool lob over the keeper.
Bronte Wanderers 4 Waddington 3
Bronte were cruising 4-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Sarfraz Gulzar, James Ley, Liam Holdsworth and David Nelson.
But changes to the Waddington lineup had the desired effect as they almost clinched a point. Two goals from Robert Lloyd and one from Stephen Backhouse put them back in the game and only good stops from Bronte keeper Lee Nelson prevented them from gaining a draw.
Embsay 1 WFC Clitheroe 2
Embsay's unbeaten run came to an end after Clitheroe keeper Mark Proctor saved a penalty from James Mole in the last minute. The score was 1-1 at the break, Neil Bradley capitalising on some hesitant Clitheroe defending to equalise on the stroke of half-time after Chris Oakley had given the visitors the lead with a cool finish. Both sides had chances in the second half. Sub Paul Gaskell put Stewart Hickling through for Clitheroe's second goal which turned out to be the winner following Mole's late miss.
