Guiseley and Rawdon's ward councillors have met with the new developers of High Royds to seek assurances over its future.
A last-minute handover of the 541-home project from the Raven Group to Gladedale plc set some alarm bells ringing in and around Menston last year.
Approval for the scheme had only been granted after a lengthy planning application, and was dependent on a raft of commitments given by Raven - and its proven track record in converting old buildings.
But Guiseley and Rawdon's three Conservative ward councillors, following a meeting with representatives from Gladedale, say many of their concerns have been allayed.
Councillor Stuart Andrew said: "The meeting was extremely constructive and reassuring as the developers confirmed that they will stick to the original plans.
"I'm confident that we will still get a good scheme of excellent quality that will preserve the character of High Royds. But as this is such a major development, we are determined that everything possible is done to limit its impact on the area."
Councillor John Bale said: "This is a sensitive project, due to the history and character of the old buildings, and an important development for the local community.
"We were shown examples of similar projects carried out by the developer and assured that High Royds will be of the same high standard."
Councillor Graham Latty added: "The meeting certainly eased many of our concerns and we will continue to keep residents up to date on how the development progresses."
