A mother-of-three has launched a cutting-edge hair salon dedicated solely to children.
Idle-based Kidz Cutz is packed full of toys and gadgets to keep even the most restless of youngsters happy while they have their locks shorn.
Adele Wilkin, 34, has joined forces with hairdresser Jolene Lucas, 27, to launch the business after researching children's salons. They believe the nearest is at Harrods in London.
Mrs Wilkin said: "I have three girls and have always found it very difficult to get my children's hair cut.
"When I have taken my youngest daughter, who is three-years-old, she has refused to actually have it cut.
"I have had to sit with her screaming on my lap. The last time I took her she nearly toppled over a glass stand!
"I spent four months researching the project and we decided to go for it.
"We want to make cutting children's hair an anxiety-free experience. Children's salons are very big in the USA, but as yet, not here."
The pair have imported barbers' chairs from America, including one shaped like a sports car complete with flashing lights.
The salon, now open, has been incorporated into Miss Lucas's existing business, Jolene's Hair, Nail and Beauty Salon in High Street, Idle.
The pair have spent £1,300 converting a spacious room decorated with primary colours and flashing lights. While having their hair cut, children can also watch DVDs or play the latest video games.
Mrs Wilkin, a guide leader at the 107th Thackley troop, has contacted nurseries and children's groups in the area to tell them more about the salon.
She said: "All the parents I know think it is a fantastic idea and have been very happy with the service we have provided.
"In the future we hope to organise children's parties for girls and give schools the chance to take part in a 'trip to the hairdressers'.
"We are very optimistic and excited about the future of the business."
