Richard Edghill feels he has been "left in limbo" by City.

The experienced full back, who has played 25 games since signing in August, has been out of contract since Wednesday.

And he admits that he may have to look elsewhere for a new club after City did not take up an option in his original deal to extend it until the end of the season.

Edghill said: "It pains me to say it because I don't want to leave Bradford but I need to get something sorted where I can.

"I'm disappointed because I've really enjoyed being there.

"Colin Todd gave me a chance to come down and play and I've been in the side regularly, which makes it

a bit frustrating that this should happen.

"We spoke before Christmas and I got the impression that it would get sorted out very quickly. But the chairman then told me that they wouldn't be able to offer me the contract for the rest of the season.

"Maybe I could sign week-to-week or month by month and the situation might change. But I don't want to be in this position again come the

summer time. I'm 31, I've got maybe four or five years left in my career and I need to concentrate on playing.

"I feel like I've been left in limbo by the club's decision.

"I've had this happen to me before and you have to put everything on hold and can't really do anything. That's football for you but I've just got to move on."

Todd invited Edghill to carry on training with them but he has refused.

"I stopped getting paid at the end of last week so I didn't really want to keep going in," he added.

"I don't know what's likely to happen next. I've rung a couple of people I know in this division. They've kept me in touch with what's going on but I haven't been offered anything."

Todd is desperate to hang on to the former Manchester City and QPR full back, who can operate on either side of the back four. After losing Andrew Taylor back to Middlesbrough, youngsters John Swift and Jake Wright are the only cover for first-choice pair Lewis Emanuel and Darren Holloway.

Edghill, who held further talks with the manager at Valley Parade yesterday, has not played since New Year's Eve when he pulled his hamstring early on in the 0-0 draw at Scunthorpe.
