WHARFEDALE coach John Lawn has warned his players not to make the same mistake twice ahead of Orrell's visit to the Avenue tomorrow (writes Mike Crowther).
Dale lost to the Lancashire side back in September the week after a convincing 34-10 victory over Henley. And the Greens go into tomorrow's clash on the back of another 24-point triumph over Henley, which was achieved in even more impressive style.
Lawn rated last Saturday's 30-6 win in Oxfordshire as his side's most complete performance of the season.
He is anxious that his side do not drop their standards against an Orrell side who have lost their last four games and sit second from bottom in the table.
He said: "I'm a bit wary about the game as expectations will be high after last week. We did exactly the same thing against Henley at the start of the season in that we won comfortably. But then we went to Orrell and didn't perform properly. Attacking wise we were good, but we didn't produce a rounded performance."
That 28-27 defeat at Orrell was the start of six-game run in the league without a win for the Greens, but they are now one of the division's form teams, having won four out of their last six games.
On paper, Dale are clear favourites, but Lawn is warning against complacency.
"We start at 0-0 with a lot hard work to do. They have some good players such as Simon Mason at fly half whose is an ex-international and whose goal kicking was of international standard when we met earlier in the season."
Aside from gaining revenge for the defeat earlier in the season - when Dale outscored Orrell by five tries to three and lost at the death by a penalty from Mason - there are other incentives for Wharfedale.
The Greens have never beaten Orrell and the Avenue faithful are due a good performance. Apart from the early win against Henley, Dale's only other win at home came in far from convincing fashion against struggling neigbours Harrogate.
