THE hunt is on for Jennifer and Roger, an Otley couple with one less Christmas card this year.
Their missing card was sent by Otley scouts post last month, but failed to reach its destination because it lacked an address.
Now, organisers of the annual Parish Church Scouts and Guides Christmas Post are appealing for the couple to come forward so the card can at last be delivered.
Bryan Dexter, chairman of the scouts Parents and Friends Association, said the only clues they had was the name of the couple and the name of the sender, Christine.
"We imagine she's put the name on the envelope, meant to fill in the address and forgotten all about it.
"Although it is too late, we would like the people for whom it is meant, to receive it. It is addressed only to Jennifer and Roger and is from a lady with the name of Christine."
Of the 10,500 delivered before Christmas, only one other gave the temporary postmen a problem, but after exhaustive detective work, including checking electoral roles and much foot work, it reached its destination.
Mr Dexter said: "We do try very hard to ensure all the cards are correctly delivered despite some rather vague addresses or no addresses at all.
"One card with no address and only a surname was delivered following checks at Quarry Road and Quarry Farm Road, Old Pool Bank and three houses on Saville Court, Otley."
Unfortunately, when the card reached its correct destination, the people were not at home.
Meanwhile, Mr Dexter said the scout's biggest annual fund-raiser had been a great success.
"We would like to thank our loyal helpers, the collectors, sorters and deliverers and of course, the shops and businesses who act as stamp sellers and postal centres. Without the help of all of these people the service could not operate."
