Firms in Bradford are being warned not to neglect health and safety in the workplace.
A survey of 300 companies found most are more interested in making improvements this year, putting health and safety to the bottom of the list.
But the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) today launched a campaign to warn of the cost of workplace incidents and show the benefits of improving health and safety.
A total of 3.6 million working days were lost through injury and ill health by businesses based in the Yorkshire and Humber region last year.
And up to 600,000 people were injured or became ill because of work last year, costing their employers £1,200 each time.
Bradford-based Judith Donovan, of the HSE, said health and safety improvements were not expensive.
She said: "Health and safety measures are always in the interest of the firm, as they will contribute to protecting the staff and productivity."
