As well as the challenge of playing only his second Bulls match, Adam Watene has another major confrontation tomorrow - with giant cousin Frank.

A largely youthful Bulls side visit Dewsbury Rams and it gives Watene a chance to learn more about his new team-mates following a winter switch from Castleford Tigers.

But the friendly also sees the Cook Island prop come face-to-face with his huge relative Frank Watene, who is the Joe Vagana of the National League Two outfit's side.

"I'm looking forward to it," said the Bulls hopeful. "We were speaking just on Thursday night and had a bit of a laugh about it all.

"I've not played against Frank since I was very young as a kid and we played for different teams back in Auckland. He's a front rower too so we should come up against each other a bit."

Both players are 28 but Frank has been in the English game longer having also featured with Wakefield in Super League, Adam arriving just last year and helping Cas win promotion.

"It's Frank's second stint at Dewsbury and he's a real home-town hero there," he added.

"He's enjoying it and gets a great reception. I went to watch him the other week and he's playing some good football.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of taking him on."

Watene made his Bulls debut in their first friendly at Warrington on Monday but wasn't pleased with his impact off the bench.

He admits there is plenty of work needed to get him up to Super League level but has gained confidence in practice during the last few days.

Prior to the Wolves clash, Bradford had little opportunity to run through game preparation, with freezing conditions preventing them taking to the training field.

That meant Watene felt like a duck out of water when he came onto the pitch as he got to grips with the calls at his new club, but milder weather has helped his cause since.

"I was a bit lost against Warrington," he said. "I was limited. There's a lot to work on. Bradford have their own set-up and ways of doing things but now I've got a chance to redeem myself.

"I've had a good week training and now I want a strong match.

"I just want to concentrate on those few things and play better than last time, get some consistency.

"Hopefully I'll get a few more games yet."
