The Shaolin Warriors have ventured outside China for the first time to perform with the Chinese State Circus.

They join with Peking Opera on January 16-18 to help kick-off the new season at St George's Hall in Bradford.

The first show is The Nutcracker presented by 42 dancers of the Russian State Ballet of Siberia next Friday-Sunday.

Other classical productions include a Johann Strauss Gala (February 18), singer Aled Jones (March 15) and Ellen Kent & Opera International with Rigoletto (18).

Buttershaw's St Paul's Amateurs perform the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel on January 24-28.

This is Elvis is a new musical on April 24-29 following Presley's 1968 comeback from his TV special to Las Vegas live show.

Other tributes include The Kings of Swing (February 25), Sing-a-long-a Abba (March 3), Best Blues Brothers Show in the World Ever! (30) and Pink Floyd band Off The Wall (31).

n Visiting Mr Green is a humorous and touching play presented by Bingley Little Theatre on January 16-21.

An elderly dry cleaner wandering on New York's Upper East Side is almost hit by a car driven by a corporate executive.

Ross is charged with reckless driving and has to help Mr Green in his home once a week for six months.

The play, at Bingley Arts Centre, follows the men's growing relationship as it turns from comedy to moving drama.

Wait until Dark, the classic thriller about a blind woman defending her home from ruthless criminals, is on February 20-25.

n The New Year is greeted tonight by the Halle Orchestra with the annual Viennese concert at St George's Hall in Bradford.

Waltzes, polkas and marches will include all the Strauss favourites including the Blue Danube, Tritsch Tratsch and Thunder & Lightning.

There will also be the Canon Galop by Lumbye and Carlotta Waltz by Millocker, as well as arias sung by tenor Alan Oke.
